Congratulations to Belletti Photography September 28, 2007

Hooray hooray hooray! I’ve always known that my friend Shannon Belletti is an amazing photographer, but it seems many other people know it too. Belletti Photography was just voted “Best Photographer in Atlanta“. That’s quite a feat for a gal who’s only been in Atlanta for a year!

Treat yourself to some of her wonderful images - check out her blog or view her portfolio. (Here’s one of my favorites…and I’m lucky enough to have an actual print!)

When Shannon comes to Texas for Thanksgiving, she’s going to take my headshots that I can use when I’m published. Yes, I said “when”, not “if”.

Books at HEB September 22, 2007

Filed under: Generic — Heather Foeh @ 8:26 am

I live in a small town — there’s no Barnes & Noble, no Borders, not even a Hastings. We do have a new bookstore in town called Berkman Books and I try to frequent there when I can, but sometimes their selection is limited. I’m a member of Amazon Prime so whenever I get the urge for a book I often buy it from Amazon and have them ship it to me for free (”free” as in “I paid $72 this year for the privilege”). But a new day has dawned here…  Our local HEB grocery store has completely revamped their little book and magazine section! They have added in a bunch of wooden-looking bookshelves that are about shoulder height and have a ton of books crammed on them. They also replaced the shelves along the wall for the magazines with these cool looking new ones. And best of all - they have started carrying Harlequin Blaze books! All of the Harlequin/Silhouette books are right up front on the end piece of one of the shelves, directly facing the checkout lines, and the Blaze books are on the top shelf. I felt a little giddy because I could picture my book right there someday! Woohoo!

Quote of the Day September 20, 2007

Since one of my favorite things to say is, “I don’t do math” I laughed hard at this quote which appeared on my Google homepage today:

In real life, I assure you, there is no such thing as algebra.
- Fran Lebowitz

Yum….Weetabix July 5, 2007

Filed under: Generic — Heather Foeh @ 7:58 am

I’m a sucker for trying new brands, especially when I like their advertising. Recently I’d heard some radio ads for Weetabix cereal and also seen some billboards in Austin, so I was interested to give it a try. I had to wait a bit for my local HEB grocery store to start carrying the cereal, but as soon as I saw it there I grabbed a box and I’m so happy to report that they’re delicious! Apparently you can eat them in a variety of ways (many options on the back of the box). My preferred method is to put one biscuit in a bowl, squirt some honey on the top, add a little bit of milk (about halfway up the biscuit), then repeat the process. I tried putting in 2 biscuits into my bowl at once but the second one is a bit too soggy by the time I’m done, so now I do the one-at-a-time method.

I’m interested in hearing if anyone else has some favorite ways to eat them and can give me inspiration…so please share!

I love MINI and they love me June 25, 2007

MaudeI am the proud owner of a 2007 MINI Cooper. The newest member of our family is named Maude and she’s a lovely Oxygen Blue color with black bonnet stripes. She joined us in April and fits right in. I will admit that I shed a tear when I said good-bye to her predecessor, Millie — a 2004 model. No offense to dear Millie, but Maude ROCKS. It’s hard to believe, but she’s even zippier than Millie, the turning is better, the shifting is tighter, even the giant speedometer in the center of the dash is bigger.

But here’s the really cool thing about owning a MINI…the MINI people love you. Just this week I received a lovely black box in the mail emblazoned with the words “MINI ADVENTURE FIELD KIT”. It contained a mouse pad, a pen, a driving journal, an antenna ball, window cling messages, etc etc etc. I’m a sucker for this kind of thing. Post-sale marketing is the best way to keep your customers happy and it’s one of the reasons I bought a MINI again. (Another great way to keep your customers happy is to create an excellent product, which is the biggest reason I bought a MINI again.)

When the original Millie turned 1, I received a Happy Birthday email from the folks at MINI. And last summer they launched a “MINI Takes the States” driving tour where you could meet up with other MINIs and see the sites. (Alas, I couldn’t attend, but I hope to if they ever do it again!) This kind of community is wonderful…maybe it’s part of the reason we MINI people wave at each other on the road.

If you’re thinking about getting a new car, take a look at a MINI…it’s the most fun you’ve had driving since you turned 16.

I saw another funny bumper sticker this week on MoPac and thought I’d share:

Frodo Failed: Bush has the Ring

why are you here? March 25, 2007

Greetings. I can’t believe you’re here!

I’m staring this blog for ME. If some of my friends read it…great. If they don’t, that’s okay too. This is just an outlet for my random thoughts.
